Some of the Best Jewelry at the Golden Globes…Were Worn by Men

The stars were out that night, but nobody was as glittering as the jewelry on the celebs at the awards show.

In the last few centuries, some of the most memorable pieces of jewelry have adorned famous (and infamous) women–think Queen Victoria, the Duchess of Windsor, Marie Antoinette, Josephine Bonaparte. But go back a few more millennia and the precious gems and metals that pharaohs, emperors, datus, and ancient kings donned on the daily might challenge that notion.

Last week, celebrities at the Golden Globe Awards walked the red carpet in their most splendid finery, but it was the jewelry that adorned men’s necks, wrists, and lapels that arguably stole the spotlight and kept people talking. Is jewelry beyond watches, cufflinks, and tuxedo studs only a trend, or is stunning jewelry on men a revival that’s here to stay? Is this a look destined to remain within rarefied circles—or will it eventually trickle outward?

We’ll have to see. Here were the night’s most head-turning eye candy, and the men who wore them.

Coleman Domingo in Boucheron

Colman Domingo just signed with Boucheron, and what a debut. While he sported an ear clip and rings from the jewelry house, the most jaw-dropping pieces were the leaf brooches cascading from his shoulder to the end of his lapel, from Boucheron’s upcoming Histoire de Style collection. He also wore a diamond-encrusted Omega.

Connor Storrie in Tiffany & Co.

Connor Storrie, in Saint Laurent, wears a storied piece: the maison’s iconic Bird on a Rock.

Hudson Williams in Bulgari

Hudson Williams wore his Giorgio Armani tuxedo with Bulgari jewelry: a diamond-set Serpenti necklace and watch, two matching Serpenti Viper rings, another four-band B.zero1 ring, and a pair of B.zero1 earrings.

Kumail Nanjiani in Fred Leighton

Kumail Nanjiani wore Art Deco Fred Leighton jewels—namely, a diamond jabot brooch and matching cufflinks—on the lapel of his Emporio Armani burgundy velvet coat.

Oscar Isaac in Bulgari

Timothée Chalamet wore a Panthère de Cartier pendant necklace and an Urban Jürgensen UJ-2.

Tramell Tillman in Boucheron

Tramell Tillman, in Zegna, wore Boucheron’s diamond-set Plume de Paon brooch and rings, as well as an Audemars Piguet watch in matching 18kt white gold.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in Chopard

Johnson stuck to Chopard for the night, wearing a diamond-encrusted watch and an 18-carat white gold brooch with diamonds.

Paul Downs in Boucheron

Boucheron seems to be the winning maison of the night, with many of the most dramatic brooches by the jewelry house.

Benny Blanco in Neil Lane

Blanco wore diamond-encrusted Neil Lane bracelets a necklace.

Patrick Schwarzenegger in Dolce & Gabbana

Zoom in: there’s a bee pin positioned atop the floral brooch, originally from Joan Rivers’ estate.

Orlando Bloom in Giardini Segreti

Michael B. Jordan in David Yurman

One of the night’s most understated looks belonged to Jordan, wearing a white gold starburst design with diamonds by David Yurman.

Snoop Dogg in Talia Coles
