State of Grace: Eight Exceptional High Jewelry Necklaces
A high jewelry necklace gives rare stones an architecture of their own, balancing color, proportion, and movement around the neck. Tiffany & Co.’s Jasmine places an exceptional diamond at the center of its composition, while Cartier’s Haryma brings a tiger to life through articulated settings and fiery gemstones. At Louis Vuitton, diamond lacework suspends a Colombian emerald; at Boucheron, individually painted rose quartz becomes a sculptural flower. Across these eight creations, the settings are as compelling as the stones they hold.
Tiffany & Co
Tiffany & Co.’s Jasmine necklace centers on an exceptional 18.80-carat D-color, internally flawless Type IIa cushion-cut diamond, set in platinum with diamond accents.
Cartier
Cartier’s tiger moves across five imperial topazes totaling 28.04 carats in the Haryma necklace, surrounded by garnets and white, yellow, and orange diamonds. A fully articulated, onyx-set necklace captures the big cat with striking color, movement, and precision.
Van Cleef & Arpels
The transformable Promesse Souveraine necklace in Van Cleef & Arpels’ Fascinating Egypt collection centers on a vivid, 26.21-carat cushion-cut pink sapphire from Sri Lanka framed by diamonds. Its central motif can also be worn on a coordinating ring.
Chaumet
The “Cinnamon Bark” necklace by Chaumet in the Spicy Sweetness collection features rose gold, set with one oval-cut rubellite of 38.38 carats, one oval-cut D VVS1 diamond of 2.17 carats, 12 brilliant-cut D/E VVS diamonds of around 0.30 carat each, square-cut spessartite garnets, and brilliant-cut diamonds.
Bulgari
The Secret Garden necklace by Bulgari features a 26.65-carat Sri Lankan Padparadscha sapphire, accompanied by another 5.10 carats of Padparadscha sapphires and more than 34 carats of cabochon emeralds. Purple sapphires, diamonds, and black onyx complete the platinum composition.
Louis Vuitton
Louis Vuitton’s Mesmerism necklace suspends a 17.18-carat Colombian emerald and a 3.03-carat LV Monogram Flower-cut diamond from an intricate lacework of white diamonds—a supple showcase of the maison’s high-jewelry craftsmanship.
Dior
Dior’s Galons Printemps necklace arranges two black opals totaling 9.38 carats among diamonds, multicolored gemstones, and lacquered petals. Victoire de Castellane’s elaborate assemblage transforms couture braids into a richly articulated high-jewelry garden.
Boucheron
Boucheron’s Flower necklace uses 1,532 carats of rose quartz, each stone individually painted under magnification to create its botanical motif. Pavé diamonds surround a 3.26-carat D-color, VVS1 cushion-cut diamond, set in pink and white gold and platinum. The complete Flower set required 3,290 hours of work.
