The Magic Table at Grand Hyatt Manila
We recently spent an enchanting evening at The Magic Table at the penthouse of the Grand Hyatt Manila.
We donned wizard robes and wands to take part in the interactive dining experience led by masked servers and a magician, with online hosts The Clairvoyants, known for their performances on Broadway and at the Venetian in Las Vegas.
We cast our grownup doubts and aside and immersed in childlike wonder as we listened to stories, played games, and allowed ourselves to be surprised.
The menu revealed itself with a feast for the senses: a forest mushroom pate with textured hazel nut soil, figs, and pistachios drizzled with Manuka honey that transformed into toadstools growing from a plate; herb-crusted Hokkaido scallops poached in butter served with a crustacean bisque in a bowl of seashells; a crab meat and cod brandade generously topped with Ikura.
The pièce de résistance: a beautiful beef Wellington with golden crust crowned with foie gras and shaved truffles.
Pure enchantment. – Yvette Fernandez, Chief of Editorial Content

“The time has come,” Bolipata said, “to talk of many things: of Posca Paints, Lithographies, and Dreams Beyond the Sea” at Vetted
This weekend, I’m really looking forward to seeing the exhibition “The time has come,” Bolipata said, “to talk of many things: of Posca Paints, Lithographies, and Dreams Beyond the Sea” by artist Plet Bolipata at Vetted in Makati. The title alone makes me curious as it feels bold, reflective, and deeply personal. I’m especially fascinated by how Bolipata’s recent time at the Art Students League of New York encouraged her to return to drawing and experiment with lithography, and how she used her quick sketches of everyday life in New York and developed them into more considered works.
At the same time, the exhibition seems to reach back into her own memories and personal relationships, even imagining connections with the artist couple, Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera.
I love the idea of an exhibition that blends personal history with surreal storytelling, and I’m curious to see how her colors and narratives come together in her works. It feels like the kind of show that reveals an artist who is still exploring new directions, and I’m excited to experience that sense of growth and possibility.
“The time has come,” Bolipata said, “to talk of many things: of Posca Paints, Lithographies, and Dreams Beyond the Sea” runs from March 14-31 with viewing hours from 1PM-6PM, Mondays Fridays, at Vetted, Unit 126, Mile Long building, Amorsolo Street corner V. Rufino Street, Makati City. For inquiries, call 0917 5262339
