Louis Vuitton Returns to the World Cup With a New Trophy Trunk
Louis Vuitton has spent over a decade turning a hard case into one of football’s most recognizable icons. As the 104 matches by 48 teams in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosted for the first time across three nations—Canada, Mexico, and the United States, where 6 million fans have attended matches already—unfold in real time, the House has confirmed its role as Official Supplier and Branded Licensee, and with it, a new edition of the Trophy Trunk built to carry the tournament’s trophy onto the pitch at the final.
The trunk, made at Louis Vuitton’s historic ateliers in Asnières-sur-Seine outside Paris, follows a formula the House has refined since its first Trophy Trunk appeared in 2010. Monogram canvas wraps the exterior, with two front panels hand-painted in a golden “V” that nods equally to the Vuitton name and to victory, echoing the trophy’s own gold tones. The signature leather borders, known as lozines, gold-plated brass hardware, and clasps drawn from Louis Vuitton’s 1860s trunk designs complete the exterior, while the interior is finished in light beige leather with a patch marking the Louis Vuitton–FIFA partnership.
Alongside the Trophy Trunk, the House is releasing a limited run of three companion pieces carrying the same World Cup-inspired design: a Coffret 8 Montres built to hold eight watches, a Cotteville 16 Montres aimed at serious collectors, and a Malle Courrier Lozine 110, all available with personalized initials, a detail Louis Vuitton has offered on its trunks for well over a century.
The gesture sits comfortably within Louis Vuitton’s long-running sports patronage, which dates to its 1983 tie with the America’s Cup and now spans partnerships with Formula 1, the Australian Open, the NBA, and the Olympics, among others. As Louis Vuitton CEO and Chairman Pietro Beccari put it, the trunk continues a legacy built around football’s greatest achievement, while FIFA’s Romy Gai frames the pairing as a natural fit given the trophy’s status as the sport’s most coveted prize.
The trunk itself will travel further than most of the collectors who might buy into the accompanying collection ever will—guided onto the pitch by Louis Vuitton ambassadors and a FIFA legend, ahead of a match billions will watch, whether or not they know a lozine from a lock clasp.
There will be an exclusive preview of the FIFA World Cup™ 2026 winner’s Trophy and Louis Vuitton Trophy Trunk on July 16 from 10am to 12pm at Louis Vuitton Store at 57th Street New York.
