There is an art to celebrating someone well, and it usually involves the kind that sets aside an afternoon, a table, a room, and says, simply: this is entirely for you. This May, The Peninsula Manila makes that case with characteristic grace, assembling a program of dining experiences and an overnight retreat in honor of Mother’s Day on May 10.

The culinary offerings run throughout the month. At The Lobby, afternoon tea (Php2,890) is available daily from May 1 to 10—elegant, and precisely the kind of mid-afternoon pause that mothers will always welcome. Pair this with a “Baking Memories with Mom” cake decorating class on May 10, and your afternoon is all set (Php6,490; make the reservation now, as only 10 slots are available).

There’s also a Mother’s Day Brunch in Escolta on May 10 (Php4,990 for adults and PHP 2,500 for children under 12). Old Manila, the hotel’s most storied dining room, offers a four-course lunch and dinner from May 8 to 10 at PHP 5,500—Robb Report Philippines‘ editors recently sampled the new menu, and the verdict is that it’s the kind of meal that justifies clearing the calendar entirely. A Peninsula Boutique pop-up at The Lobby, running May 1 to 10, offers cakes, chocolate art pieces, pastries, and flowers.

Of course, staying on an overnight package with “Celebrating Her: Honoring Mothers in our 50th Year” is where the hotel’s hospitality instincts are most fully expressed. Rates begin at Php22,099 for a Grand Deluxe Room and Php27,499 for a Premier Suite, with inclusions that read like a day designed entirely around her: a floral welcome amenity, afternoon tea, daily buffet breakfast at Escolta, access to the pool and Fitness Centre, and Peninsula Time—the hotel’s flexible check-in and check-out arrangement that may be the most favorite detail of all. Suite guests additionally enjoy access to the Gallery Club Lounge, with culinary offerings throughout the day from breakfast through evening cocktails. She’ll love it.
