Skytrax Names the World’s Best First- and Business-Class Airlines for 2026

Skytrax has announced its 2026 rankings for the world’s best First Class and Business Class airlines, placing Air France and Qatar Airways at the head of premium air travel.

The results, announced during a gala ceremony at The Langham in London, come from Skytrax’s annual global passenger-satisfaction survey, conducted between September 2025 and August 2026. According to the 2025–2026 World Airline Awards methodology, travelers representing more than 100 nationalities evaluated over 300 airlines. They scored cabin service, seats, lounges, dining, entertainment, cleanliness, and airport services.

Singapore Airlines placed first in overall rankings, moving to the top spot from #2 last year to Airline of the Year.

Air France Leads the 2026 First Class Ranking

Air France was named the World’s Best First Class Airline for 2026, succeeding Singapore Airlines, which held the title in 2025.

Its latest La Première suite occupies nearly 3.5 square meters and extends across five windows. Each suite combines a seat with a chaise longue that converts into a two-meter bed. Air France also won for First Class comfort amenities and lounge dining at Paris Charles de Gaulle.

Second-ranked Singapore Airlines won the award for the world’s best First Class seat. Available aboard the Airbus A380, its Suites provide separate beds and leather chairs rather than requiring passengers to convert one into the other. The divider between adjoining suites can be lowered to create a double bed.

Lufthansa placed third and won the award for best First Class onboard catering. Its Allegris First Class features closable suites with almost floor-to-ceiling partitions. The Suite Plus accommodates two passengers, with individual seats that convert into a double bed.

Qatar Airways Retains Its Business Class Crown

Qatar Airways was named the World’s Best Business Class Airline for 2026 for the 13th time.

Its Qsuite also received the award for best Business Class seat. The product combines closing privacy panels with a fully flat bed, while selected adjoining seats can form a double bed. A four-seat configuration allows families or colleagues to share a private space. Qatar Airways also won for its Al Mourjan Garden Lounge at Hamad International Airport in Doha.

Singapore Airlines placed second. Its Business Class offering includes fully flat beds, direct aisle access on many long-haul aircraft, and the airline’s advance meal-selection program, Book the Cook. On the Airbus A380, the divider between selected center seats can be lowered to create two beds positioned side by side.

Cathay Pacific Airways ranked third. Its latest Aria Suite, available on selected Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, has a wraparound seat, privacy door, and sliding partition. Cathay Pacific also received the 2026 award for the world’s best airline cabin crew, while its Hong Kong lounge was named Asia’s best Business Class lounge.

How the Skytrax Rankings Are Decided

The rankings assess each airline’s broader cabin-class experience rather than every seat installed across its fleet. Travelers should therefore confirm the aircraft assigned to their flight, as cabins can vary within the same airline.
