Dior Paradise and the Dioriviera makeup palettes understand the intimate scale at which beauty does its best work: A few moments of pleasure still count for quite a lot.
A tiny ladybug rests on the limited-edition Dior Forever Glow Luminizer compact, surrounded by three-dimensional daisies embroidered over the house’s signature cannage pattern. The detail refers to Christian Dior’s fondness for lucky charms, while also accomplishing something more immediate: It turns the routine act of opening a compact into a small pleasure. At the preview of Peter Philips’ Summer 2026 makeup collection, it was mentioned that only 10 of the luminizer compacts were available in the Philippines at the time. Handling one felt appropriately lucky; the current moment offers no shortage of reasons to feel grim, so an object designed to provide a few seconds of delight earns its place in the day.
Arriving alongside the makeup preview was Dior Paradise, the new unisex eau de parfum created by Francis Kurkdjian for La Collection Privée Christian Dior. Taking his cues from Christian Dior’s home in Provence where he planted hundreds of almond trees across the estate and enjoyed orgeat, the almond syrup he served in cocktails, the scent is built around bittersweet almond, a floral-woody accord, as well as mandarin and tonka bean. Its limited-edition packaging features Jonathan Anderson’s interpretation of cannage as inspired by artist Christian Bérard, where the pattern appears to dip beneath water, giving the box the dreamy quality of being viewed through the surface of a shimmering swimming pool on a summer afternoon.
A summer fragrance arriving during the Philippine rainy season may sound slightly mistimed. Yet, as we observed in this story, fragrances composed for warmer weather often behave particularly well in our humidity. Citrus and aromatic notes retain their energy, while heat draws richer notes closer to the skin. Bottled Provence can be useful when Manila turns gray—serendipitously, the color Christian Dior prized above all others.
As for makeup, Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup, works with the cool and warm colors of Provence: azure, coral, bronze and gold, which include creamy and long-wearing (again, another feature that works in high humidity) Diorshow Flash Sticks and nail color.
While blue eyeshadow, lip maximizers, and nail color might be intimidating, the warmer tones are wonderfully wearable. But what deserves a place in your routine now is what was inside that ladybug compact, the Dior Forever Glow Luminizer in Sun-Kissed. It offers plenty of shimmer, with perhaps a hint of glitter. In this overcast weather, a little reflected light will do more for a complexion than good intentions ever could.
