Roger Vivier Is Taking Couture Out for a Walk
The most intriguing thing about Roger Vivier’s new sneakers is their ancestry (if not that they’re Robb Report Philippines‘ Best of the Best in Style, Couture Footwear). Their lace draws on the delicate crochet and dentelle of Monsieur Vivier’s 1960s shoes—a detail that places a distinctly couture sensibility under the heading of everyday footwear. For Spring–Summer 2027, creative director Gherardo Felloni is giving the house’s decorative instincts somewhere new to go.
Unveiled during the last Paris Fashion Week, “Vivier en Fleur” treats the archive as a source of possibilities. Familiar buckles, sculptural heels, embroidery, and lace appear in different proportions and unexpected company. The collection’s name translates as “Vivier in bloom,” but its appeal is grounded in something practical: how these elaborate objects might fit into a woman’s day.
The Belle Vivier loosens up
At the center is a new slingback inspired by the Belle Vivier, with a wider buckled vamp and a spool heel drawn from the archive. The proportions give the familiar silhouette a different stance, designed with daytime dressing in mind. Mustard suede, vivid patent leather, and satin hues bring variety to the proposition.
Belle Vivier appears in denim with precious embroidery, staying cool while also keeping it ladylike. The fabric lends the Parisian shoe an appealing informality, while the embellishment preserves its sense of occasion.
For the sneakers, Felloni takes lace, a recurring element in the founder’s work, and explores it through new materials and technical treatments. Satin and embroidered versions bring the delicacy of the original references into a sporty silhouette.
A butterfly earns its wings
The butterfly has also traveled. Introduced in July with the Pièce Unique Autumn–Winter 2026/27 collection during Paris Haute Couture Week, it now appears across the Spring–Summer fashion collection.
Rendered in embroidery, the motif settles on satin jewel bags, pointed mules, and slingbacks. On smaller accessories, the butterfly becomes a concentrated flourish: enough ornament to give an otherwise simple outfit a focal point.
Leave room for improvisation
Felloni extends the same freedom to jewelry and accessories. Modular charms can be combined on chains, jewels, or bags, allowing the wearer to alter an outfit as she so chooses, like the foulard, knotted around a shoe or tied onto a bag, which adds color and flourish exactly where its owner wants it.
The Roger Vivier boutique is located at Greenbelt 3, Esperanza Street, Ayala Center, Makati City, 1200, Makati City.
