Piaget Expands Its Limelight Gala Collection with Two New Elegant Models
Piaget has recently introduced two stunning additions to its renowned Limelight Gala collection, building on the line’s legacy of artistic design and precision craftsmanship. The Limelight Gala, originally launched in 1973, has long been celebrated for its asymmetrical case and avant-garde design inspired by surrealism–and surrealism’s celebrated muse, Gala Dalí. With these new models, Piaget once again elevates its iconic style while embracing bold, modern elements.
Decorated Gala: A Touch of Sophistication
The Decorated Gala model maintains the collection’s signature elegance with a 32mm 18K pink gold case adorned with 42 diamonds (totaling 4.74 carats). Its bracelet features a wavy engraved décor that mirrors the refined aesthetic of the dial, which is also crafted from 18K pink gold and features similar engraving. The watch is powered by the Caliber 501P1, Piaget’s self-winding mechanical movement, offering both precision and a strong connection to the brand’s rich watchmaking heritage.
Burgundy Gala: Rich Color and Vibrancy
The Burgundy Gala, another new release, combines the signature Piaget elegance with a pop of color. The 32mm case is also made from 18K pink gold, set with 20 diamonds, 10 rubies, and 12 pink sapphires. Its dial, which features the same wavy engraved décor as the Decorated Gala, is covered in a deep burgundy enamel that enhances the model’s luxurious feel. Powered by the same Caliber 501P1 movement, this watch blends Piaget’s craftsmanship with a bold color palette that catches the eye.
A Legacy of Culture, Innovation, and Comfort
The Limelight Gala’s roots stretch back to 1973, when Piaget introduced the watch with an oval-shaped case and two asymmetrical lugs set with diamonds, breaking new ground in both design and watchmaking. The innovative case was paired with a bracelet featuring Piaget’s signature Palace Décor guillochéGuillochéGuilloché is a decorative engraving technique creating intricate, precise geometric patterns on a watch dial or case, traditionally executed by hand using a rose engine lathe. The painstaking, highly skilledGo to Guilloché Glossary technique, adding an element of fabric-like softness to the wrist. Over the years, the collection has become one of Piaget’s most successful, with more than 50 models released, including special editions.
According to Christophe Bourrié, Piaget’s director of high jewellery and exceptional creations, the Limelight Gala continues to be the brand’s top seller in the high-end category. In an interview last year with Financial Review, he said, “Whatever is symmetrical is boring,” says Bourrié. “When you work on asymmetrical, it becomes much more interesting, much more variable.”
Bourrié also notes the watch’s international success, emphasizing that its appeal stretches across different regions, from America to Asia. “One important feature of the Limelight Gala is that it is a true international success. Our clients like the differentiation of the watch–it’s easily recognizable–and they like the colour animations through hard stone dials to coloured stone bezels.”
In addition to its stunning aesthetic, the Limelight Gala is praised for its comfort. Its cambered lugs that ensure a perfect fit, as well as the supple gold bracelets that integrate seamlessly into the design.
With these two new models, Piaget continues to uphold the Limelight Gala’s legacy as a symbol of innovation, sophistication, and timeless beauty.
