Bulgari Dresses Its Record-Thin Perpetual Calendar in Monochromatic Blue

A cooler, sharper mood to one of the maison’s most celebrated ultra-thin complications.

Bulgari’s Octo Finissimo has always made complexity look controlled. In a category often defined by boldness, the Roman maison has built its modern watchmaking identity around sharper lines, slimmer cases, quieter surfaces, and engineering pushed almost to the point of disappearance.

That philosophy takes on a new hue with the Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar in blue titanium, the first monochromatic blue interpretation of one of Bulgari’s most important complications. Cool, architectural, and almost impossibly thin, it gives the record-setting 2021 model a more contemporary, rather evening-ready character.

The new release has quite the shoes to fill. The Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar won the Aiguille d’Or at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in 2021 and set a world record for thinness with its titanium perpetual calendar construction. Since then, Bulgari has revisited the watch in carbon gold in 2023 and rose gold in 2025. This new blue titanium version is a more natural evolution of the Octo Finissimo idea.

Measuring 40 mm across and just 5.80 mm thick, the extra-thin case is crafted from sandblasted titanium with a blue PVD coating. Its blue varnished dial keeps the composition tightly controlled, offset by grey rhodium-plated hands and silvered indexes. A polished stainless steel crown with a black ceramic insert adds a precise note of contrast without breaking the watch’s monochromatic calm.

Perpetual calendars can easily overwhelm a dial, with indications for the date, day, month, and leap year all competing for space. Bulgari keeps the layout clean and legible, placing the retrograde date across the upper half while the remaining displays sit with a graphic sense of order.

Power comes from the BVL 305, Bulgari’s automatic manufacture ultra-thin movement. Measuring just 2.75 mm thick, it drives the hours, minutes, perpetual calendar, retrograde date, day, month, and leap year, with a 60-hour power reserve and a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour. A transparent case back reveals the movement, while 3 ATM water resistance gives the watch a practical edge without softening its haute horlogerie credentials.

A matching blue alligator leather strap completes the look, secured by a polished titanium pin buckle. The choice softens the technical character of the titanium case and makes the watch feel more sartorial than severe. It’s easy to picture it under a dinner jacket cuff, really.

The release also sits within a broader 2026 moment for the Octo Finissimo line. Bulgari is pushing the collection in several directions, from the newly proportioned Octo Finissimo 37 to the boundary-testing Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon Platinum.
