The Whitney Bag by Max Mara

Max Mara

Celebrated the tenth anniversary of The Whitney Bag with Marilou Peña Koa and her team at the Max Mara Greenbelt store last week.

The Whitney Bag was launched at the opening of the Whitney Museum of American Art in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District back in 2015, a cantilevered building designed by architect Renzo Piano.

The Whitney is on my list of go-to places whenever I’m in New York, where I can lose myself in the huge space filled with contemporary works by American artists before heading off to the greenery of the High Line.

The Whitney Bag’s vertical ribbing was inspired by the facade of the building, and was created by Max Mara in collaboration with the Renzo Piano Building Workshop.

It’s now part of the permanent collection of the New York Fashion Institute of Technology museum. – Yvette Fernandez, Chief of Editorial Content

The Max Mara boutique is located at Greenbelt 3, Esperanza Street, Makati.

Motorcycles: The Impossible Collection (2nd Edition) by Assouline

Since their invention in the nineteenth century, motorcycles have always symbolized freedom and quickly became cultural icons, embodying speed, rebellion, artistry, and design. Motorcycles: The Impossible Collection celebrates this two-wheeled speed devil and is an update from the first edition, gathering 100 of the most exceptional bikes of the 20th and 21st centuries, from Peter Fonda’s Easy Rider chopper to Evel Knievel’s Harley-Davidson XR750. This edition, just dropped on the website today, adds more recent marvels like the Dodge Tomahawk, Shinya Kimura’s Spike, and even the Bat Pod from The Dark Knight Rises.

Written by veteran automotive journalist Nicolas Stecher and artist-designer Ian Barry, the book is as much about culture as it is about feats of engineering. Each page features the machines that shaped eras and captured imaginations, which makes it a must-have in any passionate motorcyclist’s library. – Kimberly Rocha-Delgado, Digital Editor

Tokyo Manila New York Jazz at The Jazz Club, Aman New York

Aman New York

I’m getting ready to spend another autumn in New York, and, as always, my calendar is booked with diverse culinary adventures and rich cultural experiences.  To start off the season is the highly anticipated “Tokyo Manila New York Jazz” at The Jazz Club at Aman New York. This musical celebration will run for two nights, Thursday and Friday, September 11-12, 2025.

Produced by interior designer, Maja Olivares-Co, the evening will feature a dynamic five-piece ensemble that brings together exceptional talent from the Philippines, Japan, and America in a cross-cultural collaboration that is set to  explore the robust intertwining jazz traditions of these three major cities. This special artist line-up showcases renowned Tokyo-based Filipino jazz vocalist Charito, whose award-winning albums and collaborations with legends like Michel Legrand have earned her top honors from Swing Journal. She is joined by accomplished Japanese musicians: pianist Yuki Arimasa, bassist Yoshiki Yamada, and drummer Yosuke Nagayama. Completing the international ensemble is  the talented American saxophonist, Adam Hutcheson.

Aman New York

“This soulful journey through rhythm and culture features a diverse repertoire including beloved American jazz standards, reimagined renditions of traditional Filipino love songs, and contemporary Japanese pop hits, celebrating jazz as a truly global language through the diverse backgrounds and experiences of these accomplished musicians,” says Olivares-Co.

It promises to be a NYC evening to remember. – Alicia Colby-Sy, Lifestyle Editor
