September rolls in with a reverberating energy as galleries in Metro Manila tackle the brilliance of nature, the allure of cultural heritage, and the novel ways art is made with concurrent technologies. The Orchid Pavilion: Wawi Navarroza at Silverlens Gallery In this show, the first part of a trilogy of exhibitions entitled “The Double-Naveled and Triple Tongued, A Tropical Gothing Troika,” Navarroza tickles the senses as she puts together objects signaling Sinitic heritage that have made their way into Filipino visual culture. Think blue-and-white porcelain, iridescent vases, and the elegant cheongsam converging with plaid textiles, sheer pineapple blouses, and lace boleros, composed to mirror maximalist sensibilities.
