Watch Dealer Eric Wind and Designer Marc Newson Just Unveiled a Line of Colorful Hourglasses

The duo took two years to get the shade of green just right.

The best collaborations can often take a little time—just ask Eric Wind. After purchasing his first HG Timepiece hourglass, made by storied designer Marc Newson, back in 2020, the watch savant and owner of Wind Vintage (and one of our Masters of Luxury) remained enamored with the piece for years. Now, Wind has teamed up with the very man behind the design to unveil his own colorful new collection of hourglasses. The HG Timepiece hourglass and its sculptural silhouette made its debut in 2010. As of late, the company has switched from using steel nanoballs to tell time (like the ones inside Win’s own hourglass, which had a copper hue) to using larger titanium nanoballs. The swap not only makes the pieces more visually striking, but it offers up both a more dramatic sound and the ability to transform the nanoballs into more colors via a heating process.
