Three New Davidoff Lounges, and All the Time in the World
Davidoff Cigars has decisively expanded its Philippine footprint, unveiling three new premium stores across Metro Manila. Each location is conceived as a sanctuary for the age-old ritual of the cigar, offering private lounges and tastings that mirror the brand’s philosophy of pleasure in equal measure.
These spaces invite us to sit back, light up, and let time loosen its grip, much like a well-constructed Davidoff. After all, we find their real character in the slow unfurling of aroma, texture, and balance.
For Davidoff, whose heritage has always rested on the cultivation of experience, the Philippines represents a natural home. Manila’s discerning clientele has long embraced the brand’s ethos of craftsmanship and conviviality, drawn to cigars that favor elegance over brute force, subtlety over spectacle. A Davidoff Grand Cru or Aniversario has never been known to overwhelm the palate. Instead, they’re remembered for their layering—creamy cedar, toasted nuts, hints of spice.
That same sensibility quietly animates its new Manila lounges. The most expansive of the three debuts sits within the Makati Shangri-La. Accessible through the hotel’s grand staircase, the boutique feels removed from the pace of Makati below.
Inside, the private tasting room for eight to 10 guests is hushed and cocooned, an atmosphere that allows a cigar’s evolution to be appreciated without distraction. Leather seating, warm wood, and carefully controlled humidity create a sense of physical ease. It is an ideal setting for executive meetings, celebratory evenings, or guided tastings, led, of course, by Davidoff ’s specialists.
Across the metropolis in Bonifacio Global City, Davidoff’s new outpost at Shangri-La The Fort offers a more contemporary rhythm. Located directly across the hotel’s lobby entrance, this sleek, urban store mirrors the tempo of the city itself. Yet inside its five-to-seven-seat private tasting room, the pace softens. Here, a Nicaragua or Escurio, known more perhaps for its livelier spice and darker, more textured profile, feels especially cozy, complementing the room’s design-forward energy while still honoring Davidoff’s trademark balance.
Further down south, within the high-stakes glamour of City of Dreams Manila, Davidoff’s most intimate boutique finds its home beside the High Limit gaming area, en route to Nüwa Hotel.
With seating for just four to six guests, it has the discreet intimacy of a well-kept secret. The casino’s electric pulse only heightens the pleasure of the lounge’s hushed, aromatic calm, much as a finely aged limited edition gains depth when enjoyed against the noise of the outside world.
What unites all three locations is Davidoff’s insistence that cigars are carefully composed experiences. Such meticulously regulated environments and assortments work in concert to draw out every nuance of a Grand Cru, an Aniversario, or a rare limited release.
These lounges are designed, in the truest sense, to let a cigar do what it does best: slow you down, open its layers, and invite you to stay a little longer. How persuasive they can be.
