There are few pleasures as enduring, and perhaps as quietly decadent, as the slow burn of a fine cigarillo. And by now, Tabacalera has perfected the art of tobacco and then some. Tabacalera began as La Compañía General de Tabacos de Filipinas, a venture born of both Spanish enterprise and Filipino mastery. It quickly became synonymous with excellence, producing hand-rolled cigars that would soon find their way into the humidors of connoisseurs across Europe and Asia. Nearly a century and a half later, the brand remains one of the oldest surviving cigar manufacturers in Asia. “We have been producing our excellent hand-rolled cigars since 1881 and will continue to do so,” says Michelle Ongpin Callaghan, president of Tabacalera Incorporada. “We believe there will always be a market for handcrafted luxury products.
