Richard Mille’s Dazzling New High-Jewelry Watches Are Each Adorned With 1,399 Gems

Richard Mille is taking its high-jewelry watches up a notch.

The Swiss maison just unveiled an uber-limited collection of 12 dazzling timepieces that double as fine jewelry on the wrist. The lineup, known as the RM HJ-02 In-House Automatic Tourbillon, comes in four colorways: blue, pink, violet, and green, each designed to show off bold hues and to play with light.

In the new collection, Richard Mille’s classic tonneau-shaped case has been transformed into an explosion of color, thanks to the 1,399 precious and ornamental stones that adorned each watch. The brand’s in-house gem setting team used snow, grain, and bezel-setting techniques to play with opacity and reflection on the wrist; in total, the pros devoted nearly 700 hours throughout the painstaking process of prepping and placing all those stones. All their hard work shows in that Art Deco-inspired case (which took over a year to develop), where layered planes and asymmetrical details shine from every angle.

Richard Mille, as we mentioned, made sure to have plenty of bold colorways to pick from, too. Kicking things off is Violet Variations, where you’ll find plenty of purple-hued gems paired alongside bold green stones. Pink Pursuit, meanwhile, offers up a slightly brighter colorway, with pinks, greens, and dashes of light blue. Speaking of, Blue Ballet is home to shades of blue, too, as well as some pink and orange tones. Last but not least is Green Gambit, where green and blue gems take center stage. Each timepiece also comes with a matching strap—and the gems even extend to the buckle.

Of course, the new watches don’t just have a pretty face. They’re also home to Richard Mille’s new in-house automatic tourbillon calibre CRMT2. Done up in white gold, the skeletonized movement was made right alongside the watch’s case and the dial, so it could be more easily integrated into the design. You’ll find 23 jewels adorned the curves of the caliber, including the gem-set gold rotor and the barrel. The caliber also offers up a 50-hour power reserve.

Richard Mille is no stranger to colorful, avant-garde timepieces. The watchmaker’s Colored Ceramics collection, which it unveiled in 2023, may lack the gemstones of its newest launch, but it’s still just as bold and bright. Taking design cues from the ‘80s, the timepiece have been spotted on the wrists of Boston Celtic Jayson Tatum. Fellow basketball player LeBron James teamed up with Richard Mille last year to unveil his own colorful creation decked out in Lakers yellow, too.
