The AMB 002 Makes the Case for an Aston Martin Motorcycle

The AMB 002 Roadster turns carbon fiber, titanium, and a 130 hp V-twin into one of Aston Martin and Brough Superior’s most convincing collaborations yet.

The word “redefining” gets thrown around too freely today. But few carmakers have made reinvention as central to their identity as Aston Martin. Extending that sensibility beyond four wheels onto two wheels, however, can be a much harder proposition. Enter the AMB 002, which succeeds by carrying over the drama without predictably making the motorcycle feel like a reduced car.

Unveiled last week, the AMB 002 marks the third product of the partnership and its first actual street-legal machine. It’s important to note that its predecessors, the AMB 001 from 2019 and AMB 001 Pro from 2022, were track-only exercises, the latter pushing output to 225 hp. Moving onto public roads has produced something tamer, at least by comparison. The 002 makes 130 hp and 110 Nm from a new 1,083 cc water-cooled V-twin, weighs 190 kg, and adopts an upright riding position more suited to roads than lap records.

Visually, the bike pitches noticeably forward, its compact tail leaving much of the rear wheel exposed while the mass of the carbon-fiber bodywork gathers around the tank and engine. There is something almost animal about the silhouette, though its best details become apparent when the surface treatment gives way to the machinery underneath.

The carbon-fiber fuel tank and fairings form a smooth, almost pebble-like volume around the rider. Crescent-shaped cooling gills interrupt those surfaces, while extraordinarily thin mirror stalks keep the front end from accumulating too much visual weight. Carbon fiber could easily have become decorative shorthand for performance here. Instead, the material is used to reduce the motorcycle to a few uninterrupted shapes. It’s what adds that industrial-sculptural layer to the superbike.

Those Aston Martin signature side strake cuts through the fairing before surrounding the headlamp. Twin exhausts finished with ribbed heat sinks nod to the Vanquish, DB12 S, and DBX S. At the rear, the connection becomes more theatrical, with blade-like lights drawn from the Vulcan, Valkyrie, and Valhalla.

Brough Superior’s contributions come in with the titanium backbone frame, milled from solid billet, weighing just five kilograms. CNC-machined engine cases, an aluminum rear frame, and the company’s unusual Fior-type double-wishbone front suspension also bring a degree of mechanical intricacy that deserves to remain visible.

Whether all of this produces the promised precision on the road will require time in the saddle. On design alone, however, the AMB 002 may be the clearest evolution yet of why this collaboration makes sense. Brough Superior supplies an engineering language sufficiently eccentric to stand beside Aston Martin’s, while Aston gives the machinery its visual identity.

Only 300 examples will be individually built, with first deliveries scheduled for the third quarter of 2027. More information here.

FAQs

The AMB 002 is a street-legal motorcycle developed by Aston Martin and Brough Superior. It is the third model created through their partnership and the first designed for public roads.

The AMB 002 produces 130 hp and 110 Nm of torque from a 1,083 cc water-cooled V-twin engine.

Unlike the track-only AMB 001 and AMB 001 Pro, the AMB 002 is road legal and adopts a more upright riding position. It also makes less power than the 225-hp AMB 001 Pro.

The motorcycle incorporates Aston Martin-inspired side strakes, ribbed exhaust details referencing models such as the Vanquish and DB12 S, and blade-like rear lights influenced by the Vulcan, Valkyrie, and Valhalla.

Brough Superior developed elements including the five-kilogram titanium backbone frame, CNC-machined engine cases, aluminum rear structure, and Fior-type double-wishbone front suspension.
