Robb Report Philippines and Southlinks Estate Raise a Toast to the MUSE Issue
Robb Report Philippines, in partnership with Southlinks Estate’s Kevin and Shirley Wong, welcomed guests to Sala Restaurant for a dinner marking the publication of MUSE, the magazine’s special issue featuring women who excel in different fields.
In her opening remarks, Robb Report Philippines Chief of Editorial Content Yvette Fernandez spoke about the publication’s continuing partnership with Southlinks Estate, built around a shared appreciation for the pleasures of everyday life, meaningful experiences, and enduring value.
The evening also turned the spotlight on the women of MUSE. Fernandez mentioned Ana Lorenzana de Ocampo, founder of Wildflour, and chef Johanne Siy, who was named Asia’s Best Female Chef in 2023 and is opening her own restaurant in Singapore this month.
Dinner was accompanied by a wine pairing introduced by host Paolo Abrera, who connected each bottle to ideas of place, time, and home.
“One of the first things we talk about when we introduce a wine is where it comes from. Its character begins with terroirTerroirTerroir refers to the complete natural environment, soil, climate, topography, shaping a wine's distinct character, a concept central to how fine wine regions define their identity. The term extends theGo to Terroir Glossary, or place: the soil, the climate, the landscape, and the conditions particular to that part of the world,” Abrera said.
That relationship between place and character also informs Southlinks Estate’s approach to creating a community. Its plans bring together retained trees, linear and pocket parks, a wellness garden, pedestrian pathways, and dedicated cycling lanes, making the landscape part of how future residents will spend their days. The promise is in the everyday pleasures these spaces can support: a walk outdoors, time with family, or a chance to pause amid greenery.
The four-course dinner began with blue swimmer crab, celeriac remoulade, and sweet shrimp fritto, paired with Barons de Rothschild Champagne Concordia Brut. The idea of terroir provided a natural introduction to Southlinks Estate, a 33.6-hectare residential community within a larger 46-hectare masterplan, where the landscape and thousands of trees are part of the development.
Pappardelle with duck, red wine, and rosemary ragout followed, served with the 2022 Le Carillon d’Angélus. Named for the bells of Angélus in Saint-Émilion, the wine brought time into the conversation, and the years that go into developing both a wine and a community.
For the main course, veal loin with porcini, baked polenta, asparagus, and Marsala jus was paired with an excellent 2021 Château La Fleur-Pétrus. The Pomerol estate is composed of parcels with different soils, including gravel and clay, bringing the evening’s conversation to roots and the importance of where something takes hold and grows.
Dessert was fennel seed panna cotta with poached plums and almond biscuits, followed by petit fours.
Each guest received a copy of MUSE and a one-year complimentary subscription to Robb Report Philippines. After an evening of conversation about place, time, and root everyone left with the stories of the women of MUSE to take home with them.
For Southlinks Estate, the evening was an expression of wellness that went beyond recreation or amenities. It was about the pleasure of gathering around a table, sharing conversation, and creating moments that bring people closer. This more complete view of wellbeing, encompassing connection, restoration, and community life is central to the kind of environment Southlinks Estate is creating for its future residents.
