Our first encounter with the Range Rover Sport was both relaxed and hair-raising. We were on a mountainside in England so steep and rocky that only seatless trial motorcycles were going up the face. Standing upright was nearly impossible without grabbing onto something. Yet there we were, piloting the original Range Rover Sport up terrain that seemed to defy logic. That moment set the tone for what this model line would represent—capability that borders on insane.

Fast forward to today, and the Range Rover Sport has evolved. It’s become more refined, more luxurious, and—crucially—more focused on on-road performance. But it hasn’t lost its edge.

The latest iteration, the Range Rover Sport SV Edition 2, is perhaps the most compelling yet. If I had to sum it up in a word, I’d say it’s poised. This is a vehicle that balances extremes with remarkable composure.

The SV Edition 2 features a 6D Dynamic Suspension system, also found in the Land Rover Octa. This setup actively manages pitch and roll, keeping the car level even under hard acceleration, sharp braking, or aggressive cornering. It’s a technical marvel, and it works seamlessly, allowing the driver to push the car without unsettling its balance.

Under the hood is the most powerful engine ever fitted to a Range Rover: a twin-turbo V8 paired with a mild-hybrid system. The numbers are impressive—635 PS and 750 Nm of torque—launching the SV Edition 2 from zero to 100 km/h in about four seconds. That’s quick, but it’s delivered with the composure you expect from a Range Rover.

What’s particularly interesting is how Range Rover is integrating wellness into the driving experience. The new Body and Soul Seat program uses audio technology to tailor the in-car environment, responding to the needs of the driver and passengers. It’s a thoughtful touch that shows how the brand is thinking beyond performance and .

Range Rover has also become more deliberate in how it curates its vehicles. There are four distinct design themes, or “curations,” for the SV Edition 2. The version available in the Philippines features a Sunrise Copper Satin exterior accented with satin carbon twill, a painted carbon-fiber bonnet, and 23-inch carbon-fiber wheels. Red brake calipers add a dash of visual drama. Inside, the seats are finished in a combination of cinder and ebony, using both knit and what Range Rover calls “ultra fabrics.” As always, bespoke options are available for those who want to personalize further.

The Range Rover Sport SV Edition 2 is a fascinating blend of power, technology, and luxury—wrapped in a package that still remembers its roots. It’s a testament to how far the model has come, without forgetting where it started.
