Inside Arkhaus’s Bonkers New Pininfarina-Designed Floating Home
Arkhaus is bringing a high-design twist to floating homes.
The Miami-based company has exclusively revealed to Robb Report that its newest model will feature interiors by Pininfarina, taking the elegance factor up to 11.
Founded by Sam Payrovi and Nathalie Paiva in 2021, Arkhaus first made waves by building a floating members’ club with two of Arkup’s solar-electric yachts. Arkhaus Miami kicked off pre-launch events, like exclusive off-grid dinners, in 2025, with a full opening scheduled for later this year. Arkhaus acquired Arkup in mid 2025, merging to create a new entity (Ark Companies) that both designs and builds clubs and residences for the water.
The new Villa 50 is the second generation of the Arkup 50, with a fully reimagined design. The newcomer is equipped with two whisper-quiet 50 kW electric thrusters, a 126 kWh battery, and an array of solar panels that can generate up to 12 kW. That should be enough power to run all necessary onboard systems, meaning you could also live entirely off-grid. There is a backup generator and shore power if needed. (Arkhaus didn’t give details regarding speed or range, but the Arkup 50 could hit 8.5 knots at full tilt and cover 50 nautical miles at 5 knots.)
Multiple layouts ranging from one to two bedrooms mean the villa could serve as a family home, a guest house, or even an art or music studio. It can also be configured for commercial use, unlocking the potential for a waterside restaurant or (another) floating members’ club.
The real selling point is the new Pininfarina interior. The Italian firm has not only built high-octane hypercars under the Pininfarina badge but has also collaborated with the world’s best marques and shipyards, including Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Porsche, Rossinavi, Oceanco, and Wally. All that work has resulted in a highly distinctive design DNA, which is evident in the Villa 50.
There is a sense of lightness and comfort throughout. The living quarters are wrapped in expansive glass that blurs the boundaries between the indoor and outdoor world: Big, beautiful rays are inviting in, while gorgeous views are afforded out. Sleek lines and curves abound, further accentuated by integrated lighting shining from above. The muted palette and minimalist furniture make it all feel very quiet luxury.
“Pininfarina’s approach brings a refined sense of style and emotion to the Villa 50,” Arkhaus CEO Sam Payrovi said in a statement. “This collaboration defines how Arkhaus will look and feel across recreational and commercial expressions moving forward.”
Arkhaus has enlisted the legendary Lyman-Morse to bring those grand plans to fruition. The Villa 50 will be built by the storied American yard known for craftsmanship and cutting-edge construction.
The company will present the new design at the Miami International Boat Show this February, along with the next iteration of the members’ club.
