Jaeger-LeCoultre

Many look to Jaeger-LeCoultre for its iconic Reverso models and the skilled artisans and craftspeople behind them. For others, the appeal lies in the brand’s audacity when it comes to complications and movement development. With the new Master Hybris Mechanica, the creative and technical combine quite well.

This 2026 grand complicationGrand ComplicationA watch combining several of the most difficult mechanical functions, typically a perpetual calendar, minute repeater, and chronograph. Grand complications represent the summit of watchmaking skill, and these rare, multi-year,Go to Grand Complication Glossary release from Jaeger-LeCoultre is perhaps easily described by its name, the Master Hybris Mechanica Ultra-Thin Minute Repeater Tourbillon, which has what the brand says is the world’s thinnest automatic minute repeater tourbillon movement. But beyond this combination of grand complications are the lengths to which Jaeger-LeCoultre went to bring out the beauty of the mechanism, and to enhance it.

Jaeger-LeCoultre

The watch is visually stunning and extremely complicated to look at, or into. It draws you in; you feel like you see everything. Which is quite true. Jaeger-LeCoultre used sapphire crystalSapphire CrystalAn extremely scratch-resistant, clear, transparent material used to cover luxury watch dials, produced synthetically from aluminum oxide. Sapphire crystal ranks near diamond in hardness, and it keeps a watch faceGo to Sapphire Crystal Glossary as the material for the bridges, which really opens up the complication of the movement, allowing you to see what you normally might not, such as the entire operating sequence of the minute repeater. Its use of 14 different high-watchmaking finishes is on display as well, with executions from eight of its specialized workshops. Even the easily visible orbiting oscillating weight is hand-guilloché by its Métiers Rares atelier. The look of the white gold dial is framed by the pink gold oscillating weight moving around it, all in a case of pink gold.

“It draws you in; you feel like you see everything. Which is quite true.”

Besides all the artistry and craftsmanship, there is a good amount of technical development brought into the watch. The minute repeater is fully integrated as opposed to being an added module. With trebuchet hammers and a silent gap reduction mechanism, it uses 187 components on its own that fit into only a third of the movement. The flying balance wheel tourbillonTourbillonA watch complication invented around 1801 by Abraham-Louis Breguet that rotates the escapement in a cage to counter the effects of gravity on accuracy. Tourbillons are mesmerizing and very difficultGo to Tourbillon Glossary has no upper bridge, uses a patented S-shaped hairspring, and weighs only 0.248 grams. Elements including the regulating organ, the tourbillon, the minute repeater, and the automatic winding system all had to be engineered from the ground up to eliminate unnecessary height in the journey toward thinness. The oscillating weight rolls on 36 ceramic ball bearings, and because it is peripheral, it adds no additional height while also avoiding visual obstruction.

Jaeger-LeCoultre

The groundbreaking watch uses the new in-house Caliber 362, which is only five millimeters thick and has a power reserve of 42 hours and seven new patents. It is clearly a statement piece, and only 10 of them will be made.

FAQs

The Master Hybris Mechanica Ultra-Thin Minute Repeater Tourbillon is a 2026 grand complication combining a minute repeater, flying tourbillon, and automatic movement in a pink-gold case.

The watch features transparent sapphire crystal bridges that reveal the movement’s intricate mechanisms, including the operating sequence of its minute repeater. Jaeger-LeCoultre describes its movement as the world’s thinnest automatic minute repeater tourbillon calibre.

The watch uses Jaeger-LeCoultre’s new in-house Calibre 362, which measures just five millimeters thick and offers a 42-hour power reserve. Its development resulted in seven new patents.

The movement integrates its minute repeater rather than using an additional module. Its peripheral oscillating weight adds no extra height, while the flying tourbillon eliminates the upper bridge to reduce thickness further.

Jaeger-LeCoultre will produce just 10 examples of the watch, which showcases 14 haute horlogerie finishing techniques and craftsmanship from eight specialized workshops.
