Giving the Dutch Grand Prix a Proper Send-Off
Formula 1 brought the Dutch Grand Prix back to Circuit Zandvoort in 2021 after a 36-year absence, and fans quickly turned it into one of the championship’s most recognizable weekends, filling the grandstands with orange in support of home hero Max Verstappen. This August, the stakes are higher. After six editions, the revived Dutch Grand Prix will take its final lap.
Rosewood Amsterdam is marking the occasion with a three-night Grand Prix Residency tied to the race weekend from August 21 to 23. The experience is limited to guests staying in Huis 020, Herengracht House, or Library House, and includes Formula 1 Paddock Club access as well as private transfers between Amsterdam and Zandvoort.
The stay extends beyond race-day access. Guests have a dedicated Rosewood butler and use of the hotel’s Asaya Spa, while a private canal cruise and tasting of Prøvo, the property’s own jenever, bring Amsterdam into the itinerary. Airport tarmac transfers handle arrival and departure, and a helicopter can be arranged for the trip to Zandvoort.
Zandvoort’s return also arrived just as Verstappen was becoming the sport’s dominant force. He won the first three Dutch Grands Prix of the revived era, turning the narrow seaside circuit into one of Formula 1’s most fervent home-race settings. Organizers say more than one million spectators have attended since 2021.
Formula 1 and the Dutch Grand Prix promoter agreed to extend the race only through 2026, with organizers choosing to conclude the event rather than continue assuming the financial risk of staging it without government support. The final edition will also introduce one last novelty: the Netherlands’ first Formula 1 Sprint, adding another competitive session to a weekend for which Saturday and Sunday tickets have already sold out.
The Amsterdam property opened in May 2025 inside the former Palace of Justice on the Prinsengracht following roughly a decade of restoration. The building’s history stretches back much further. It originated as a 17th-century orphanage before being transformed for judicial use in the 1820s, eventually becoming one of the city center’s more imposing civic landmarks. Rosewood describes the property as the last new hotel development permitted inside one of Amsterdam’s monumental buildings.
In addition, on August 19, just before race weekend begins, its Gallery will open Echoes of Speed, an exhibition dedicated to the work of Formula 1 photographer Vladimir Rys. The show brings together signed photographs examining the visual language of racing through light, exposure, and motion blur, while coinciding with the release of Rys’s first official monograph after more than two decades photographing the sport. Works from the exhibition will also be available to purchase.
