Amanvari Is Now Taking Reservations for Its Baja Debut

Aman is heading for the edge of Baja.

Amanvari, the brand’s forthcoming sanctuary on Mexico’s East Cape, is now accepting reservations ahead of its planned opening on August 1. Set within Costa Palmas, the private coastal community on the Sea of Cortez, the resort will introduce just 18 casitas and a limited collection of Aman-branded residences to one of Baja’s most elemental stretches of coastline.

Its name, drawn from the Sanskrit words for “peace” and “water,” gives guests a better sense of the mood the property is trying to create. The East Cape is much wider and more dramatic than the high-gloss Cabo most travelers know. Picture beautiful deserts, estuaries, mountains, and, of course, the sea. Amanvari sits where those landscapes meet, with views toward the Sierra de la Laguna and the deep blues of the Sea of Cortez.

Elastic designed Amanvari as a response to Baja’s terrain, with initial contribution from Heah & Co. Rather than sitting above the landscape, the casitas seem to settle into it, placed among desert vegetation, palms, and the changing coastal light.

At 82 square meters each, they open generously to the outdoors, with terraces, private heated pools, outdoor showers, and living spaces arranged for the slower rhythms of the day. Fair-faced white concrete is also softened by natural stone, timber, and plaster, while bespoke furnishings and discreet technology add polish without drawing attention away from the setting.

What Travellers Can Expect

Guests will have access to the wider Costa Palmas lifestyle, including a Robert Trent Jones II-designed golf course, organic farms and orchards, a private marina and yacht club, and miles of swimmable beachfront.

Dining will lean into both Aman’s global signatures and Baja’s local character. Arva, the brand’s Italian concept, will be joined by Sesui, a Japanese restaurant with a 10-seat omakase counter and à la carte tables. Luma, on the other hand, will focus on Mexican cuisine inspired by open-fire cooking and coastal traditions, while the Lounge Bar and Pool will serve more casual small bites and refreshments. Private dining will include beachside meals and multi-course experiences shaped by regional ingredients and culinary traditions.

The Aman Spa and Wellness centre will also draw from Mexico’s ancestral healing rituals while reflecting the brand’s broader longevity-focused philosophy. At its heart is a contemporary take on a temazcal, the traditional sweat lodge, joined by two Hydro Houses with a banya and hammam. Six private treatment rooms, a beauty salon with head spa, outdoor relaxation areas, an open-air yoga pavilion, and a 24-hour fitness centre round out the offering.

Conversely, for those who want something more permanent than a stay, Amanvari will come with Aman Residences. The homes are designed as an extension of the resort’s low-slung, landscape-led aesthetic, with expansive courtyards, private swimming pools, discreet entrances, and far-reaching views.
